The Earth Star was found in the Jagersfontein Mine in 1967. It was cut from a raw stone of about 248.9 carats into a Pear shaped stone weighing 111.59 carats. At the time it was considered the largest faceted brown diamond in the world. This particular stone shows a degree of brilliance that is not usually found in gems with such a strong color. It was sold in 1983 to Stephen Zbova of Naples for $900,000.

3 Easy Stew Recipes For Crockpots

Let’s have stew tonight! Here are 3 easy and very different recipes for stew you can make in your crockpot.

Recipe #1 - BARBEQUE BEEF STEW

* 2 lbs. stew meat
* 3 tbsp. oil
* 1 c. onion, sliced
* 1/2 c. green pepper, chopped
* 1 lg. clove garlic
* 1/2 tsp. salt
* 1/8 tsp. pepper
* 2 c. beef stock
* 1 can (8 oz.) tomatoes
* 1 can (4 oz.) mushrooms
* 1/3 c. barbecue sauce
* 3 tbsp. cornstarch
* 1/4 c. cold water

Saute onion, pepper and garlic in oil. Add salt, pepper, beef stock, tomatoes, mushrooms and barbecue sauce. Cook in slow cooker/Crock Pot on low heat 8-10 hours. Mix cornstarch, cold water and thicken before serving. Serve over hot cooked rice.

Rosemary Is A Natural Insect Replant

Rosemary is an aromatic herb from the libiatae (mint) family and is a gardeners friend as it is known to be a natural insect replant. If left unchecked it can grow to over 2m (6.6ft) tall, regular picking and pruning will keep your plant more manageable. Sowing:

Growing direct from seed is not the easiest when it comes to rosemary. Start indoors in a dark room, as this will aid germination, covering a liberal amount of the seeds lightly (with compost) after sowing. The optimum soil temperature should be around 15c (60f). Although rosemary can take up to 3 months before germination you should start to see some results in about 2-3 weeks. When you have shoot that are around 20cm (4inches) high they may be planted out.
